The Holidays are coming up quickly and I am already thinking about the overeating that normally accompanies family parties. Here are 5 tips to keep you on track with your health! 1) Use small plates– Trick yourself. If you are one who likes to fill your plate (like myself) then this will help you feel like you are eating more without actually doing it. With a big plate you WILL overeat.
2) Socialize away from food– If you stand by the food and talk you will not pay attention to the handful of M&Ms, couple cubes of cheese, extra nibbles of crackers, etc. Put it on your plate and walk away while you chat in another area.
3) Drink H20– By drinking enough fluid, your stomach will signal your brain that you are full. If you have ever had that overstuffed feeling where you can’t eat anymore no matter how delicious it is, this is the same. You won’t keep eating if you feel that!
4) Eat before you go– Make a small meal before you go so that you aren’t starving and tempted to eat your face off when you get there.
5) Bring a healthy dish– You can not control how unhealthy the food is, but you can have some options if you bring something healthy as a dish to pass. Don’t let yourself become trapped and surrounded by too many fattening options.
There you have it! These are so simple and not rocket science. Now you just have to do it!
