Thanksgiving Love

Wow!  It’s Monday again and that means we are just days away from eating so much that we need to shop for hours days to burn it all off.

I have gone out for Black Friday just for fun, but I refuse to become on of the crazies who throws a fit about getting (or not getting for that matter) the newest electronic device or best deal.  I think we should be more concerned with family time and less concerned about “stuff.”

So my post today is about my favorite Thanksgiving traditions!  Let’s get to it!

Prayer and Thanks

My family always starts by saying a prayer before we eat.  I love that one lucky person is chosen at random to lead the prayer and we all share one thing we are thankful for.  Since we never know who is leading, it makes us think about these things a little more.

What would Thanksgiving be without the food?!  Of course we have turkey, corn, sweet potatoes, and the rest of the classics.  Here are a few new spins on the old classics that I am totally diggin’:

Family Game Time

Our family loves to play games after dinner.  Some of our favorites are Apples to Apples, Dave Ramsey, Left Right Center, Yahtzee and Taboo.

It kinda stinks that players miss out on the real Turkey Day, but my family loves watching and it just wouldn’t be the same without a good game on while we finish up cooking or relax after eating enough to split our pants.

Now that my grandma is getting older, we often start helping her put up her Christmas decorations after dinner.  She wouldn’t be able to get her tree put together by herself and this is fun for us to help her do.  So many of her ornaments bring back childhood memories.

The holidays are full of stress but it is important to remember these little things. It’s really the only way I get through the hustle and bustle!

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to check out my first Back to the Grind post about how to eat somewhat healthy during the holiday parties!
