Of course with the new year, everyone is health conscious crazy! I’m like that all year which is why I scan the health food section every week at my local grocery stores. I find awesome food and drinks like Kevita Sparkling Water and Mamma Chia.
The Mamma Chia Vitality Beverages really caught my eye and sounded delish but I couldn’t muster up the courage to spend almost $5 on one drink. The ingredients were great, but I realized I could make it myself. We shall call this being frugal…

Do you even know why I love chia seeds?! God’s gift to man. Mamma Chia and I both agree that chia seeds are magic. but watch this video:
So I decided to make a Mamma Chia Knockoff. It’s really easy and a great addition to your water intake! Try this Pomegranate Lemon Chia Refresher:
I soak 2T of chia seeds in some water.
Once it forms into a gel and water mix I just add pomegranate juice to taste. I squirt in half a lemon and a little agave nectar to sweeten it so it’s not too bitter.
Just be sure to give it a little shake or swirl so you don’t end up with chia gel at the end.
This would also be great with sparkling water and any juice variety. Add some fresh fruit for a ZING!
