21 Day Fix “Free” Seasonings + Marinara Recipe

I return to you with some exciting news:

1) You rock and lil ol’ Variety by Vashti is taking a leap of success this week!

2) We get to schedule closing on our new house on Thursday!

Both of those are a breath of fresh air.  I am so excited for the blessings happening in my life and I can’t wait to see what the future hold for my precious family.

So yesterday we visited the new house to get some measurements for a new garage door and make an action  cleaning plan.  I have my work cut out for me!  Stay tuned for review posts on our flooring and garage door, as well as a ton of DIY projects including my free furniture finds!  #hoarder  And then there is the pink bathroom…  Lord save me!

Since I have been so busy, this week of workouts has barely happened.  It bothers me, but I have to remember that in the big picture, taking 5 days off isn’t really the worst thing that could happen.  I am going to get a great shoulder workout with painting every single room of the new house, awesome lifting circuit with moving furniture and boxes.  Oh and did I already mention cleaning?!  So I told myself it is a recovery week and I already have a game plan for my workouts and next week’s tomorrow’s meal plan.

I will be back to planning meals for the entire family using the 21 Day Fix program and of course, will share my meal plan along the way!  Everyone has been asking for my seasoning recipes and the marinara so today I want to share those and another recipe.  You are getting spoiled!

FREE Seasonings means you don’t have to count a container if you are doing the 21 Day Fix.  Feel free to double or triple any of the seasonings to fill up your jars.  You will use these all the time!  I keep mine stored in washed baby jars.

21 day fix seasonings

Ranch- I love this sprinkled on kale chips or roasted brussel sprouts.  Try it mixed with 1 cup Greek yogurt to make a ranch dip.  Add just a touch of salsa for an awesome salad topping!  **Ranch packets are loaded with MSG so by making your own, you don’t miss out on any flavor, but can skip the dangers!**

  • 1 t garlic powder
  • 1 t onion powder
  • 1 t sea salt
  • 1/2 t pepper
  • 1/2 t parsley
  • 1/2 t dill

All Purpose– I use this on kale chips, chicken, roasted veggies and more!

  • 4 t onion powder
  • 2 t garlic powder
  • 2 t mustard powder
  • 1/4 t dried thyme
  • 1/4 t ground black pepper
  • 1 t sea salt

Smokey Southwestern– This is perfect for chili, beans, or meats.

  • 1 T chili powder
  • 2 t ground cumin
  • 1 t coriander
  • 1/2 t onion powder
  • 1/2 t garlic powder
  • 1/2 t dried oregano
  • 1/2 t paprika
  • 1 t sea salt

Mediterranean– Perfect for greek chicken and salad.

  • 4 T dried parsley
  • 4 t dried onion flakes
  • 2 t dried basil
  • 1 t dried oregano
  • 1 t dried thyme
  • 1 t garlic powder
  • 1 t sea salt
  • 1/4 t ground black pepper

And how about some homemade marinara?

I used this for spaghetti, a veggie mix with quinoa and as pizza sauce on sweet potato pizza crust!  After cooking, I just stored it in a mason jar so it was ready to use throughout the week.  Feel free to actually make a ton and can it.  I promise you will love it for the flavor and it’s way healthier than pasta sauce you find at the store.

Homemade marinara

  • 1 can diced tomatoes (low or no salt is best)
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Italian seasoning, to taste

Stir the ingredients in a pan and simmer for 20-30 minutes.  If necessary, add just a pinch of sugar or Stevia to remove the tartness.
