Friday Fix 3: Kitchen Tools I Swear By

Happy Friday to you!  I am thrilled to be back to my Friday Fix posts!

So let’s just jump right in… no time to waste.

kitchen tools I swear by

If you are working through the 21 Day Fix, these tools will make your life easier and you might even enjoy meal prepping more!  I have a small roundup of my favorites.  Some links are affiliate links.

1) Cute Dishes or Silverware – varies

Nothing makes me happier to eat a meal I slaved over than to see it dolled up on cute china or with adorable spoons.  I have been obsessed with my spoons from A Spoonful lately!

2) A good Knife Set – $100

 knife set

Nothing is more time consuming and frstrating than using dull knives, or the wrong knife for the task at hand.  It might seem like a big investment, but spending $100 on a knife block set can really make your work easier!  I use my knives a lot and I prefer to hand wash so they will last me even longer.  Also, don’t cut on certain surfaces like glass cutting boards, and your set will stay sharp!

3) Color Coded Baggies – $2.49 or less

color coded bags

You can snag these at Target, but they are cheaper with the Amazon link I gave you.  Use the colors to take your color coded container foods in.  You only have so many containers and it might be easier to just use them to portion and then store in the bags.

4) Mason Jars and Accessories – $10+

BNTO cuppow

I really love being able to take my food on the go.  When you are planning on following a 21 Day Fix meal plan, you better be prepared to travel with your food.  It’s not acceptable to just grab a taco or pull out a granola bar.  It’s also easier to just prep your snacks early in the week and mason jars are the perfect container for this.  The Cuppow adapters are functional but oh-so-cute!

5) Food Steamer – $35

food steamer

It’s seriously such a timer saver to layer chicken, veggies and quinoa/brown rice in a steamer and come back later to cooked food.  You can easily prep food for the entire week this way!  I loved using this to make Quinn’s baby food as well since steaming helps to keep all the nutrients.

6) Mandoline Slicer – $16+

This is something I am buying ASAP.  I really want to start making new recipes and I can’t slice the veggies thin enough with just a knife.  This tool is going to open up a whole new world of food prep for me; eggplant lasagna, cucumber roll ups and more!

7) Personal Blender

oster blender

I love this blender for my Shakeology!  It’s small and easy to store, but my favorite part about it is how it travels.  I just blend then switch the lid and go.  It’s also very easy to clean.  Try my Orange Kiwi Strawberry recipe!

Paradise Shakeology

Serves 1
Prep time 2 minutes

  • 1 scoop Tropical Shakeology
  • 4 strawberries (frozen)
  • 1 kiwi (peeled)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon coconut flakes (unsweetened)

Add all ingredients except coconut to the blender. Blend until smooth.
Pour shake into a pretty glass. Garnish with coconut flakes or a slice of fruit. Add a mini umbrella for extra paradise!
Drink every last drop. If you lick the glass, we won't judge!

These are just a few of my top picks, but you can see more of my favorite kitchen accessories here!  Don’t be afraid to spend a little on kitchen gadgets.  Remember, this healthy LIVING is going to be a lifestyle change, and I promise you will continue to use these.

Have a great Friday!

Is there something I didn’t mention that you find to be working?
