Disclosure: I was compensated and sent a bottle of Omega 3 Fish Oil from Vita Optimum in exchange for testing out the product and giving an honest review. All opinions are my own and you can read more about my policies here.
I will preach that you should be eating a clean and varied diet until I am blue in the face because I don’t feel that any supplement or pill is magic and can entirely replace a REAL diet. However, using supplements for their intended purposes (as a supplement, duh) is always a good idea. Especially with our food supply and nutritional standards these days.. because let’s face it, they suck.
We don’t get enough healthy fats. We consume too much sugar. We drink too much dairy. We booze. We over eat yet never have enough vegetables in our diets… need I go on?
It’s becoming more important now to make sure we are supplementing our less-than-stellar diets with a nutritional boost to help prevent problems down the road. I firmly believe that using a multivitamin or fish oil are the two things you should NEVER go without. Just look at what you can prevent when you take the right Omega 3 Fish Oil supplement!
I got an email from Vita Optimum asking if I would be willing to review their Omega 3 Fish Oil and I jumped at the chance. Until now, I have never found one that I like; fish oil burps are something that I have a zero tolerance policy for.
A few things I learned about choosing the right Fish Oil supplement:
As always, do your own research, ask your doctor and read more about the company.
I didn’t realize that grain fed animals have reduced Omega-3. Taken from VitaOptimum.com:
“The Omega-3 content of store-bought beef, chicken and lamb, are greatly reduced because most, if not all, have been grain-fed, not grass-fed. This is important because most animals produce more Omega-3 when fed a natural diet that includes grass. When the animals are primarily fed grain, to fatten them up, their Omega-3 content is greatly reduced.”
A few more reasons I am loving Vita Optimum:
Their Omega-3 Fish Oil is IFOS & MSC Certified. These are the two highest certifications for fish-based supplements. I can tell without a doubt because I have had ZERO nasty fishy burps. <<Those are the WORST!
