I don’t blame you. I was instantly obsessed.
I have never been able to curl my hair with my wand without it getting heavy and looking like a homeless dog later in the day. Orrrr my bangs looks awfully Farrah Fawcett-esque and I hate the flippyness of them. << Yeah, that sentence just happened.
Things I don’t have time for:
- Spending an hour blow drying with a large round brush
- Using 16 different products to style
- Wearing curlers all night
I had kinda given up, or let’s just say, was refusing to spend a fortune on a new wand that claimed to work better. More heat, better size, blah blah blah. I started using my straightener and was decently happy with the curls I was getting.
But I was still so obsessed with soft wavy curls so I just had to keep playing. I just didn’t get it!
Finally…. I won.
So I made a video for you to show you how I do both; straightener curls and wand curls. With just changing the angle that I hold the wand and when I start wrapping it, I got the look I wanted.
**My phone was being super PMS’y so I will do another video at a later date and update this post. So please, if you have questions, leave them in the comments so I can add it into my updated video!**
I just used cheapo shampoo and conditioner then squeeze my hair to wring out the excess water. I do NOT dry my hair with my towel! Instead, I just flip my head upside down and wrap my hair up with the towel.
The rest is in this video where I show you how to do each section with a wand vs a straightener.
My tools + optional products if you want to sexify your style: (These are affiliate links so I could get paid a percentage if you click and purchase. I always disclose this!)
Rusk Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron I bought mine on a whim for 30% off at my salon.
Conair YOU CURL Curling Wand I scored my wand at TJ Maxx for about $10 but this link is for the other wand I own which actually heats up better.
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Hairspray All-Day-Hold 10oz – This is perfect to finish your style anytime. I love this hairspray since it’s dry and doesn’t leave your hair wet which can ruin all the work you just did! It has excellent hold!
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift Root Booster – You just spray this on your roots before blow drying and it makes a big difference in the volume. I use it for special occasions when I need to put on my “big hair pants.”
TIGI Bed Head After Party Smoothing Cream – I use this along with coconut oil almost everyday since my hair is very dry (static zone right now!) It smells so freaking good. It makes my curls really shiny and bouncy which I love!
There you have it!
I hope this was helpful and please, tag me in some selfies so I can see how your hair turns out!
