Nine weeks to go, friends!
Everyone keeps telling me that is such a long time, but I honestly feel like it’s starting to fly by. Maybe it’s the fact that I am terrified to get on stage, so every day that dwindles away makes me a little more nervous? Either way, I’m trying to focus on the week at hand.
Training three times a day can take a toll on your body, physically and mentally. I’ve been making sure to reward myself and recover so that I don’t get burned out. You know… like most of the people who are training for something like this. (I’m suuuuuurrrrrre you have seen them bitching about their training and lack of cheat meals.)
Instead of whining, really want to enjoy this process and grow as much as I can. So far, I truly am enjoying it!

How I am Recovering by Rewarding Myself (because I can’t grab a latte on Friday as my “you did it!” boost)
I make sure to foam roll every single day. I either do it right after my workout or before I go to bed. Rolling for even 10 minutes really helps to flush out lactic acid build-up and loosen any tight areas.
Last week I got lazy (ironic, I know) and ended up having some knee pain from a tight Piriformis. <<Not sure how to foam roll correctly? Check out this post.
So yeah… my new tool The Original Worm has been my sidekick again.
I love that this thing digs into those tight areas, but it also is small enough to travel with me all day.
I typically start to feel a bit sore/drained on Wednesdays so I take some time to do an Epsom salt soak. Not only does this feel heavenly and aids in muscle recovery, but it gives me a few minutes to just quiet my mind and regroup to finish the week strong. If you know me, you know that my mind is always going… this mental break is necessary.
Seriously. It’s the little things.
Last week I got my hair done and the week prior I got a full body massage. I’ve already rewarded myself with a new pair of Nikes, too.
Oh and mayyybe some Fabletics. Hey, a girl who trains three times a day needs a lot of extra clothes; ain’t nobody got time for all that laundry!
Notice how all of these will fuel my training even beyond the instant reward?
This week, seeing my bikini will be instant motivation and remind me that this is just a season. I need to stay focused and the payoff will be huge! I can’t wait to share pictures of it when it comes in.
I’m off to the gym! <<Shocking, I know!
How do you reward yourself without choosing food?
