The 5 C’s: Tips to Select the Perfect NPC Suit for You + The Big Reveal

I can’t even tell you how many hours I have spent reading and learning about choosing the right suit for my upcoming NPC bikini competition.  I made the commitment and my suit is finally here for you to see!

How to choose NPC bikini suit. So many things to consider when selecting design, color, cut, etc but the bottom line is that the suit needs to help you shine and not be too distracting. Here are my top tips for choosing a suit that's best for you!

When I first started looking, I felt entirely overwhelmed and was honestly just selecting my favorites based on what was “prettiest.”

I quickly realized that selecting a suit that grabs your eye isn’t always the suit that is going to help you win.  In fact, the suit that grabs your eye might even cost you a few points from the judges.

At posing clinic, all the judge kept saying was, “Help us pick you.”

Ultimately, you want to select a suit that gives you the confidence you need to win, hide flaws and accentuate your strongest features.  It’s critical to select the perfect suit and highlight your hard work you put in.  Your body and physique should shine to it’s fullest potential!

So, I may be a AA, but I have CCCCC tips for you when picking YOUR perfect competition suit for NPC bikini.

How to choose NPC bikini suit. So many things to consider when selecting design, color, cut, etc but the bottom line is that the suit needs to help you shine and not be too distracting. Here are my top tips for choosing a suit that's best for you!

Color

Typically, the first factors that determines suit color are hair and eye color.  Skin tone generally isn’t a factor due to the dark spray tan.  Generally, neons are good to stay away from (they draw attention away from your physique) and gem colors like red, blue and green or deep purples really pop on stage.

Suit colors that work well for red hair: browns, greens, teals, oranges and some purple tones.

Suit colors that work well for blonde hair: pastel tones, coral, mint, pink and some gold/silver tones.

Suit colors that work well for brunettes or black hair: red, burgundy, royal blue, purples or emerald

Cut

First and foremost, know the rules and regulations of your federation.  Most discourage really narrow cut bottoms and thongs.  Deciding between a pro cut and a Brazilian boils down to your physique; you will want to consider how each cut will accentuate your curves and hide your weaknesses.  For example, if you are short-waisted, you may want to consider having the rise adjusted lower to give the illusion of a longer waist.

Typically, your choices are a triangle or halter style top with the halter providing a bit more chest coverage.  If your pecs are an area of strength, opt for triangle, but if they are a weakness you may want the additional coverage of the halter.  Using cup inserts can give the illusion of a bigger bust, or you might want your suit without inserts if you have implants.

It’s always a good idea to talk with your trainer and your suit designer to decide on the perfect fit for you and what cut options you have.  It would be a shame to do all the hard work and then select a suit that doesn’t flatter your physique.

Crystals

BLING is the THING.  I’m telling you… if you can afford the sparkle then add some.  Generally, quality > quantity though, so look for a suit that is designed with higher quality crystals.  If you are budget conscious, opt for higher quality crystals and have less added but more strategically placed.  You could opt for a suit fabric that has some hologram or shine to add this sparkle effect without paying an extra cost for more crystals.  If you can afford it, add sparkle connectors to the top, middle and back of your bikini top as well as your hip connectors on the bottom.

Contrast

You might also want to choose fancied-up crystal design with contrasting colors.  From what I learned at posing clinic, the judges aren’t that impressed with fancy contrasting patterns.  It may be best to play it safe.

Although some of these suits are extremely eye catching, you will want to make sure that the suit isn’t SO eye catching that the judges notice the design and not YOU.

That being said, some designs can actually enhance your shape.  For example, I am very small busted so I chose a top design that adds a rounded shape to my bust.

Cost

Competition suits that are cheap might not be good and good suits might not be cheap.  Suits can range anywhere between $75 to over $500 so knowing your budget ahead of time will save you a lot of headache (from looking at a billion) and heartache (from settling on your dream suit you can’t afford.)  There are some great sites out there for creating custom suits from Etsy shops to actual retailers.

After doing a lot of research, I decided to partner with Angel Competition Bikinis because the quality is top notch and the suits are custom made to fit your body, but only start at $150 which is pretty affordable for most people.  If you fall in love with ACBikini like I did, you can use my special code to get your competition jewelry free!  Use code ANGELVASHTI at checkout and the jewelry will be added to your order automatically.
