Life as A Bikini Competitor: Weird Truths No One Talks About

Okay.

Before we get all saucy, let me say that this post is not for anyone under 18 years of age.

***So any little munchkins, stop reading here***

This will be my first bikini competition on October 10th (just 3 days away!) and there are some things that have come up along the way that no one really told me about.  I don’t know if we should call them secrets, but generally, everyone seems to tip-toe around the subject.

Life as A Bikini Competitor: Weird Truths No One Talks About

You might have pooping issues.

Gross. I realize.  But it’s the truth.  When you eat a diet that is high fiber/low fiber or high in protein and high in fat, sometimes things can get a little backed up; especially during peak week when water is cut back.  So don’t freak out if you can’t go!  You can take a stool softener (do NOT take a laxative) and try to just deal.  It’s normal!

You probably won’t have much any sex.

My poor husband has been so patient but I feel terrible.  It’s true though.  I’m either soooooo tired or there just aren’t enough hours in the day by the time I get all my workouts in, work, take care of Quinn, shower (3x), food prep and whatever else needs to be done.  Some women/men may even notice they have low libido during training or as competition gets closer which can be normal, too.  Three more days and then it’s date night!  #winkwink #DevilFaceEmoji

Plan on bearing it all.

I realized that my pre-competition spray tan would need to really cover everything since the bikini is so small, but I wasn’t really aware that I wouldn’t get myown spray closet.  You will probably be in a robe and some other girls might see you naked (including your spray professional) during the process.  Just so ya know!

I know these things seem super petty and probably insignificant, but it’s just a few things that have come up along the way that no one really told me about.  I guess the moral of the story here is: get comfortable being uncomfortable!

Kidding. But not really.

We gotta learn to just enjoy the ride!

I can’t wait to post updates and let you watch things unfold this week!  I will be keeping you in the loop via IG, Facebook and Periscope @kaylatyburski!

Wish me luck!
