Muscle Muffins (High Protein/Keto)

I came up with this recipe and it’s being shared like crazy!

You know that craving for sweets that hits you?  You might crave a pop, or chocolate or fall victim to the goodies sitting in the lunchroom.  Maybe you dive face first into a bowl of ice cream before bed.

I’m guilty.

I’m normally a salt lover but I still have those sweet urges.  Unfortunately, when I am prepping for a competition, I have to go without those foods for a solid 16-20+ weeks.  So I have learned how to be creative to feel like I’m indulging, satisfy my sweet tooth, but 100% stick to my plan and macros for each meal.

My afternoon snack is normally 1.5 scoops Dymatize Whey Iso100 **affiliate link** (because of high protein, low carb and speedy digestion) with 10 almonds (healthy fats).  Notice, this snack doesn’t have an ingredient from the “carb” family.

I normally would just drink my whey isolate and snack on the almonds, but sometimes I just wanted to feel like I was having a treat!

I was feeling creative so I calculated my macros using My Fitness Pal and figured that subbing in some egg whites for a little bit of the whey isolate could work.  I gave it a shot and experimented with making some muffins and it was a success!

How to make these nuggets of muscle gold:

Mix 1/3 cup egg whites with 1 scoop Dymatize Whey Iso100 Fudge Brownie and 10 chopped almonds.  Add any mix-ins your heart desires.  Pour into mini muffin maker and cook about 3 minutes.  I like them done on the outside but still gooey on the inside because it’s like they are filled with brownie batter!

Top with whatever your plan allows.  Eat your friggin’ face off. Resist making another batch…

This recipe makes 1 serving (about 6 muffins) and has 240 calories / 9g carb / 8g fat / 35g protein

Other options:

You could use Muscle Egg for a more fun version. I love Cake Batter flavor mixed with Dymatize Iso100 Fudge Brownie.  You can only get Muscle Egg here.

You can add mix-ins or toppings to fit your macros.  Freebies are cinnamon or stevia, but calculate and see how coconut flakes, a banana slice, nut butter, chocolate chips, etc might work for you.  Yummmmm….

You could also make this into a pancake if you don’t have a muffin maker!
